New DOC Peter Mellor, comes to Florida Premier

THE MLS COMES TO SW FLORIDA ….FP WELCOMES NEW DOC: PETER MELLOR!!!

 

Florida Premier is pleased to announce that Peter J. Mellor will be joining the Club as Director of Coaching. Peter has an esteemed soccer career, with over 25 years of coaching experience at all levels including the MLS ( Real Salt Lake ) and the US National Team (U17 Men’s Asst. Coach and National Goalkeeping Coach for all Men’s and Women’s teams).  Mellor started his soccer career playing 18 years in the English Premier League, followed by 2 years in the North American Soccer League.  After retiring as a professional player, Peter began coaching and developing top talent at the youth level.  In addition to the U17 Men’s National team, he has been involved in State and Regional ODP programs for men and women, and coached the US Olympic Team (2000 games in Australia).  Most recently, Peter held a coveted coaching position in the MLS, as top assistant for Real Salt Lake.

 

Peter is an instructor for the US Soccer Federation and is responsible for education in the National A, B and C licensure programs. He was responsible for developing the curriculum for the National Goalkeeping License.  He is also on the Staff of the NSCAA and has provided coaching education for this organization to over 4000 coaches.

Kevin Keelan

GOALIE TRAINER - Kevin Keelan

Kevin Keelan is a well known goalkeeping coach in South West Florida and is Florida Premier’s Director of Goalkeeping.  Kevin has experience at coaching and playing at the top levels of the game.  He played nearly 1000 games in the English First and Second Divisions (now the English Premier League and English Championship) and has been coaching for the past 25 years at the professional level and club level, where he has helped several goalkeepers gain scholarships at top universities in the United States.

Kevin is the longest serving player in the history of Norwich City Football Club, England, with nearly 700 games to his name.  In 2003 he was inducted into the Norwich City Football Club Hall of Fame.  Kevin played in two English League Cup Finals for Norwich City and in 1997 he was honored as the most popular player on the Team of Legends.  He was voted Norwich City Player of the Year in both 1973 and 1975, and in 1978 he received an MBE (Member of the British Empire) award from the Queen of England for services to soccer.  Kevin has also experienced playing in the United States where he was the starting goalkeeper for the New England Tea Men from 1978 to 1981 and the starting goalkeeper for the Tampa Bay Rowdies from 1981 to 1982.

Kevin has coached at the professional, college and club level in the United States.  He was Assistant Coach of the Tampa Bay Rowdies in 82’-83’ and goalkeeping coach of the Tampa Bay Mutiny from 1997 to 2000.  He was Assistant Coach to Tom Fitzgerald at the University of Tampa for four years.  Now he coaches goalkeepers at Temple Terrace, Tampa Knights and Flroida Premier.
